Pioneer Mother, Winter

Alexander Phimister Proctor’s “Pioneer Mother” monument stands in the winter of Kansas City. James Russell (J.R.) Hamil graduated from the University of Kansas in 1958 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. In 1973 he began his career as a freelance artist and has been devoted to painting for commissions, shows and exhibitions, publications, and other artwork related activities. In addition to painting, Jim conducts workshops and demonstrations, creates artwork for a variety of publications, and is involved in many charities.
